Battle the Colossal, Great Wyrm, Red Dragon

JAC Games is happy to be back running a D&D 3.5 game this year at Gen Con. Headed up by Dungeoun Master Benny, aka - Mark Benton, I'll be doing my best as Co-DM to keep him on track and running things smoothly.

First off if your one of the lucky ones to get registered for this game, thank you very much! We appreciate you wanting to play.

From this page you will start to see lots of good stuff that will hopefully get your fired up, and excitted about our event. From backround information, to the actual characters, to the painting of the Great Wyrm Ben'Tonthaxorous, to the construction of the mighty keep built into the side of a mountain where the main battle will take place. You'll also see the painted miniatures of each character start to appear that you will be able to keep after your battle.

So please check back often for updates.

Dragons

Below you'll find some pictures of some Dragons we will be using in the game.

First up is the start of the great Ben'Tonthaxorous. I'll be adding more pictures of him as the paint job progresses and he starts to look good.

A quick note for the game. While this model is not nearly to scale in game terms of how big a Great Wyrm would be, I wanted to use a real nicely painted reaper dragon. Reaper makes fantastic miniatures, and this is one of their biggest dragons. I think it retails for right around $100. What I'm thinking of maybe doing is making a base that would represent the actual size of a great wyrm in comparison to the characters. As we are using miniatures, combat will be fought by moving in inches, and thus we might need a big base to represent the dragons true size.

Ben'Tonthaxorous - The Start of the Paint Job

OK, now here are two of my dragons for my Warhammer High Elf army. Benny doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to try to talk him into letting two of the characters ride these things in the main battle. Perhaps the great King of the keep has a couple silver dragons who show up to help, and low and behold your character ends up riding on one. What would be better than a dragon battle in the skies over a mountain keep (besides nothing).

Characters

So, all 10 characters are 21st level. Below is what I have so far on the characters. Names are those made up by people that played in our initial battle several years ago.

Atlas Sahib 20th male human swashbuckler/ 1st fighter (true nuetral)

Almost as well traveled as Toam Mystine, is the dashing Atlas Sahib from the eastern deserts of Mojandi. In his youth, Atlas quickly grew weary of the desert nomad life, and began to travel the known world. He was not so much known for simply being a dragonslayer, so much as just being very adept at fighting opponents much larger then himself. After much travel, Atlas found himself in the high elven foothills of Mirandrigal where he at last succumbed to the powers of love (so far he had been a relentless player). It wasn't long until he had married the daughter of a wealthy elven family. It was here that he discarded his old, rusty rapier for the even quicker elven thinblade, and was taught by the finest elven sword masters.

Nijuakioto 20th male half-elven sohei/ 1st paladin (lawful good)

Far across the sea to the west comes the fearless Nijuakioto from Rokugan. He is responsible for dispatching the horrible tun mi lung (water dragon), Kobiyashi. When Niuakioto's master died at the Tunlun Monastery, he was free to go. Traveling across the sea, he finally wandered into the Tseroth Provence where he discovered the worthy patronage of Hieronious. When Ben'Tonthaxorous began his reign of terror, Nijuakioto rode to Tseroth to beg the Lord of the city for a chance to wet his khopesh with the blood of the great red wyrm.

Oothla 6th female human fighter/ 5th rogue/ 10th dervish (chaotic nuetral)

The Lord of Tseroth has always heard of the devilishly beautiful Oothla who is just as deadly with her double scimitars as she is seductive. She is famous among her nomadic gypsies of the northern Almotheron Plains, for her dance and her quick blades. However, like Rally, she has never stood out as a mighty dragonslayer. There are whispers throughout the tiered city that the only reason the Lord of Tseroth has sent for her was to lure her into his bed.

Aggoc Nimblenote 21st male gnome bard (true nuetral)

Aggoc was one of Tseroth's most favored composers. However, over the years, too much was demanded of him, and he eventually left for the solitude of nature, deep in the Greyraven woods. As a new found patron of Obad Hai, Aggoc was called forth to protect the forest against a sudden rash of green dragons. With the help of his woodland friends, he banished the beasts from Greyraven. By the time this news had reached Tseroth, Ben'Tonthaxorous had already begun laying waste to the surrounding lands. The Lord of Tseroth wasted no time in sending for his very own composer turned dragonslayer.

Bigby the IV 14th human male wizard/ 5th archmage/ 2nd fighter (lawful nuetral)

It was never easy studying to be a wizard in the shadow of his great grandfather. There were constant jokes and chides made from fellow peers about certain spells he used to pleasure himself at night. Finally, Bigby decided he would set himself apart from his family line. He had studied enough upon the subject; he would become a dragonslayer. He taught himself how to wield a warhammer, and left the academy prematurely in search of dragons to kill. He knew where to look and he knew how to defend himself magically. Bigby proved himself quite successful at his new trade.

Rally McNally 11th male dwarven cleric/ 10th warpriest (chaotic good)

Not much is known about this boisturous, loud dwarf, unless you are dwarf from Moradin Hall yourself. Coming to Tseroth to fight the great red wyrm would be the first time Rally was in non-dwarven company. He has stood behind his brethren troops countless times, bolstering them for battle, but Rally's name is not outright known for as a dragonslayer. He was the last one to be picked, and the Lord of Tseroth knew the group needed another healer and a good tunnel fighter. Moradin Hall sent forth Rally McNally to the call.

Halgriff 21st human male Monk (lawful good)

As a very small boy, Halgriff came to the Monastery of the Half-moon. As an orphan, he looked to his master at the monastery as a father. Halgriff worked at his martial art as one dedicated to making his father proud. As a result, he became one of the most gifted students the monastery ever produced. This peaceful life was suddenly shattered when a group of red dragons flew in and reduced the monastery to ashes. Halgriff's master was slain, and that was the beginning of Halgriff's war on dragons

Udas Halfoak 21st male half-elven druid (chaotic neutral)

Ever since he could remember, Udas was drawn to the great arctic South. Eventually, he learned how to live there all year long becoming one with the unforgiving climate. Over time, Udas became as fierce as long winter night. He became very adept at eliminating white dragons in his hunting territory, but he soon realized that his new specialized frost magic was much more effective against the white dragon's opposite fire-breathing cousin. So he packed up and left the arctic tundra to hunt red dragons for anyone willing to pay the price for the beast's demise.

Toam Mystine 18th male half-elven sorcerer/ 3rd cleric (chaotic good)

Toam was born on the road and has stayed on the road ever since. He had always had a high aptitude for natural magic, so it was not surprising when he answered the call of service to Fharlanghn the great traveler. Traveling far and wide, Toam only increased his knowledge of his natural arcane talent. His thirst for knowledge even carried him as far as the outer planes Believing that one of his ancestors was a dragon, the half-elf studied the species intensely. Today, he is considered one of the world's top dragonologists.

Darkhusk 12th elven male rogue/ 9th temple raider of Olidammara

Leonid Kwolinesky A.K.A.: Duerksnaeff (roughly translated in the Swirllian Gypsy tongue as “Darkhusk”: shadowed layers) was brought up with a platinum spoon in his mouth in the elven city-state of Quinuest. However, it did not take long for the young Leo to grow rebellious of his father’s bureaucratic office. He began to practice a witty twist of the law surrounding his and other high elven families of his stature. This involved short cons and late night, low security infiltrations. Leo’s father slowly caught on to these activities and decided to send his son into the clergy. The Quinuest divine academy was the best, and despite his father’s urgings to focus on a career as a Corellon Larethian devout, Leo preferred brousing amongst the pantheon. Eventually, he left Quinuest without finalizing his education. He never took to the use of divine magic, but learned to manipulate certain magical prayers written on scroll. In addition, the only deity that Leo remotely attached himself to was Olidammara, who only seemed to want to steal from other older gods, and that is exactly what Leo did. Darkhusk, as he was eventually called, gained a great deal of capital pillaging ancient ruins, and many of them. As it happened, he found that nine times out of ten, a dragon was guarding that treasure in the heart of each ruin. He quickly became very efficient at sidestepping the monster and making off with their spoils. Before he knew it, Darkhusk was summoned here; Tseroth, the mountain-city, to trick the dragon of all dragons.
